MMUST, Kabras dominate Dala Sevens as hosts Kisumu stumble
The third round of the National Sevens Circuit, Dala 7s
Kicked off at the Jomo Kenyatta International Stadium, in Mamboleo Kisumu on
Saturday after a fortnight-long break with Kabras and the Masinde Muliro
University of Technology [MMUST RFC] dominating the first two rounds of the
tourney.
MMUST under the tutelage of Coach John Asila opened their Pool
C day one fixture with a 21-15 victory over hosts Kisumu RFC, before running
riot 29-14 against Kabete Stallions to confirm their quarter-final ticket.
Christie 7s champions Kabras RFC were in a class of their
own, beating Kabete Stallions 24-00 in their opener. Kabras pilled more misery
on Dala 7s hosts Kisumu RFC as they registered their second win of the day,
beating Kisumu RFC 22-05. Kabras will now face Mmust in the last pool C
fixture.
Ingo 7s finalists and Dala 7s defending champions KCB rugby
club also secured a double win to start their title defense campaign on a
positive note. KCB started with a 24-00 win against Blak Blad before securing a
38-05 victory over Homeboyz RFC.
Fresh from winning the Ingo 7s title, Kenya Harlequins edged
out Strathmore Leos 17-12 and secured a 17-7 win over Mwamba. Consequently,
Mwamba will miss the quarterfinals for the third consecutive year, while
Strathmore Leos will miss out for the second time in a row.
