Minjis promises defensive fix as Kisped faces leaders Kibera
Kisped Queens' head coach Daniel Minjis has pledged to rectify defensive lapses following their 3-3 draw against Bunyore Starlets last weekend as they prepare to face league leaders Kibera Soccer Women in the FKF Women's Premier League.
Speaking to Citizen Digital, Minjis expressed frustration over the lack of proper communication among his defenders, which he believes cost his team valuable points in their last outing.
“We conceded avoidable goals due to defensive miscommunication,” Minjis said. “If we don’t address this immediately, we risk a loss against a team like Kibera, which has some of the best attackers in the league.”
The Kisumu-based side currently sits 9th in the league standings, managing only 6 points from their opening 7 matches.
Their inconsistent performances have raised concerns about the team's ability to climb out of the lower half of the table.
Despite these setbacks, Minjis remains optimistic about turning things around. “We have been working tirelessly in training to enhance defensive coordination and improve our overall game structure,” he added.
Minjis also emphasized the importance of his players staying focused and disciplined throughout the 90 minutes.
As Kisped prepares to host the league leaders, the tactician has called fans to rally behind the home team.
Their upcoming match against Kibera Soccer Women poses a daunting challenge. Kibera, who lead the league table, boast a formidable attacking lineup that has already netted 18 goals this season.
The match, scheduled for this weekend at Moi Stadium in Kisumu County, will test Kisped's resolve and defensive adjustments.
