According to Mihic, the Kenyan International has the potential to play at top European Leagues.
‘’There are not many players like Austin in Kenya. He is in a class of his own,’’ said Mihic.
The coach however feels Kenya lacks good finishers to bang goals from creative works of players like Odhiambo.
‘’What is lacking in Kenya is finishers. There is a lot of creativity in Kenyan football but not finishers.’’
Odhiambo missed the first two of Coach Benni McCarthy's matches in charge of Harambee Stars last month, as his club could not allow enough time for the national team coach to keep him in camp.
Mihic gave an example of Real Madrid who spend millions of dollars importing strikers, noting that the team rarely uses Spanish strikers in their games.
The coach, who led Gor Mahia to his first Mashemeji derby draw on Sunday, says any successful team needs to invest heavily on goal poachers. He thinks with players like Odhiambo, top strikers would score title enabling goals.
‘’Austin was not ready for the derby. He had not trained for close to two weeks, but overall, he is a super player. The tempo of the match changed immediately we introduced him. If you have creative players of his level and get good finishers, you'll enjoy good scores," he said.
Mihic’s thoughts are not different from former club's coach Jonathan McKinstry who predicted Odhiambo would be in the conversation for MVP in the last season, which indeed happened.
