Masters Cup to precede 2025 season as KHU announces delayed kick-off

The Kenya Hockey Union (KHU) has announced the first leg fixtures for the 2025 hockey season, set to kick off on Saturday, April 12, 2025.

Before that, the KHU Masters Tournament Series One will take place on April 5–6, hosted by the Kakamega County Hockey Association.

Originally set for March 15, the league start was postponed due to logistical challenges. These included finalizing pitch preparations, ensuring teams met registration requirements, and accommodating university-based clubs, which make up about 60% of the league, given their academic calendars.

The KHU Men’s Premier League will feature ten teams: Western Jaguars, Butali Warriors, Sikh Union Nairobi, Kenya Police, USIU-Africa, Wazalendo, Strathmore University, Daikyo Heroes, and newly promoted KCA University and Parklands Sports Club.

The Women’s Premier League will see fierce competition among Blazers, Strathmore University, Mombasa Sports Club, Kenyatta University, Sliders, Amira Sailors, USIU-A Ladies, Lakers, and promoted sides Kisumu Queens and Twinkle Hockey Club.

The Men’s Super League lineup includes Sailors, University of Eldoret, Parkroad Badgers, Kenyatta University, Greensharks, University of Nairobi, Wazalendo Masters, Mvita XI, Kisumu Youngstars, Kisii Falcons, and Parkroad Tigers.

The Women’s Super League features the University of Nairobi, JKUAT Ladies, NCBA Wazalendo Pearls, Multimedia University, Mwiki Hockey Club, Swans, Daystar University, Lakers B, and Gorillas Ladies.

The Men’s National League is split into two zones. The Eastern Zone includes Mombasa Sports Club, Mombasa West, Gorillas, Daystar University, Wazalendo Youth, TUK, and UoN Cubs. The Western Zone features Western Jaguars Dev, Kaimosi University, Kisii University, Multimedia University, JKUAT, Egerton Sharks, and Nyari Hockey Club.
