Malkia Strikers' Sharon Chepchumba lands deal in Turkey
The 26-year-old Kenyan international has already linked up with her new club after a three-month stint with Vietnam’s top-tier league side Hoa Chat Duc Giang Lao Cai.
The KCB and Kenya Pipeline’s attacker eyes to get back to her top form after a disappointing year following a career threatening knee injury she suffered late last year while playing for Greece’s PAOK.
The Kwanthanze Secondary School alumnus already produced a glimpse of what she can do when she powered Hoa Chat Duc Giang Lao Cai of Vietnam to a thrilling 3-2 victory, with an unbelievable 32-point contribution in her debut.
The attacker had re-joined KCB earlier this year eying a swift comeback to the court but she suffered a setback, forcing her to watch the 2024 Olympic Games from the sidelines.
And although Pamela Adhiambo rose to the occasion in her absence and even emerged Kenya’s top scorer, many felt the ten-time African champions would have stood a chance of winning against Japan with her presence on the court.
Chumba, as she is commonly known in volleyball circles, has always been labelled as one of the Malkia Strikers’ finest attackers in a pool of talent that also contains GS Panionios’ prodigy Veronica Adhiambo, LP Viesti’s Pamela Adhiambo, KCB’s Juliana Namutira among others.
Chumba will be tasked to help her new side achieve a promotion to the top-tier league next season.
