Malkia Strikers land tough pool in World Champs draws
Kenya’s Malkia Strikers have been drawn in a tough
looking Pool ‘G’ for the 2025 FIVB Women’s World Championship to be held across
five cities of Thailand from August 22 to September 7, next year.
The ten-time African champions will renew their
rivalry with Poland, four months after the two sides clashed at the Paris
Olympic Games. The former European champions triumphed in 3-0 sets.
Malkia Strikers will also face Germany and Vietnam
in Pool ‘G’.
The championship will be played biannually and will
have an expanded field, featuring 32 teams per gender and will be split into
eight pools of four teams.
Cameroon, other African representatives, are in Pool
‘H’ that has reigning champions Serbia, former Olympics champions Japan, and
Ukraine.
Hosts are in Pool ‘A’ that also has Egypt, who are
returning to the global stage after a long hiatus, the Netherlands and Sweden.
The championship will be held in Bangkok, Nakhon
Ratchasima, Phuket and Chiang Mai, with top two sides in each pool qualifying
for the round of 16 stage.
Starting in the Round of 16, the single-elimination
phases will all be held in Bangkok.
Pool A: Thailand, Netherlands, Sweden, Egypt in
Bangkok
Pool C: Brazil, Puerto Rico, France, Greece in
Chiang Mai
Pool D: USA, Czechia, Argentina, Slovenia in Nakhon
Ratchasima
Pool E: Türkiye, Canada, Bulgaria, Spain in Nakhon
Ratchasima
Pool F: China, Dominican Republic, Colombia, Mexico
in Chiang Mai
