Magical Kenya and Mountain Trail Series Rift Valley region enters day two

The second day of the Magical Kenya and Mountain Trail Series Rift Valley region, which was launched on Tuesday by the head of public service, Felix Kosgei, witnessed a total of 29 cyclists and 43 hikers who covered 35 km and 15 km, respectively, from the starting point located at Thomson Falls in Nyahururu, Laikipia County.

The cyclists endured the mountains and valleys while enjoying the scenery of the Great Rift Valley.

Later, they stopped at the Subukia view area of Nakuru County and continued until the last stage of the first day at Lake Bogoria.

Cyclist Paul Kathambana, one of the cyclists, was delighted by the adventure.

"It was a very good experience, and I was also happy to witness beautiful scenery like the Subukia viewpoint, Solai, and Bogoria rivers.

“I'm looking forward to enjoying more coming days in this series."

Via Semdeyo, also a cyclist, shared her experience.

"I enjoyed it more, and cycling is more fun than just driving a car. It also helps someone to stay fit physically and health-wise.

“The beautiful scenery also highlighted the event. I'm looking for a great adventure for these five days."

The second day also featured forty mountain hikers who faced seven climbs and six descents.

Baringo chief warden William Kimosop, who is also the vice chair of the adventure tourism product club, echoed the government's commitment to supporting tourism in this country.

"The government has done a good job in supporting the tourism sector. Through tourism, we have witnessed communities depending on themselves.

“A good example is Kapicha, where they created an art gallery that converts money from tourists.

“I'm urging people to support local and international tourism.” He implored.

Day two events saw hikers and cyclists visit places like Perkerra River, Koroto Cultural Center, and Sinibo Paleontological Conservancy, among other sceneries.

The culmination of this 5-day series will be the Barngetuny mountain race in Tinderet Village, Nandi County, on Saturday, 18th January 2025.
