Red-hot Madira Girls clinch overall Division One title

crush Kibera Soccer Ladies 4-1 at the Rift Valley Institute of Science and
Technology grounds in Nakuru County.
Their
triumph on Sunday followed another on Saturday when they edged Ibubi Girls 1-0 to
be crowned the Vihiga County Chapa Dimba na Safaricom winners.
The Soccer
Assassins staged a remarkable comeback after going a goal down to Kibera Soccer
Ladies in the early stages.
Their
fightback was led by Valerie Nekesa who notched a brace having set up Charity
Midewa for her side’s opener with Faith Atieno also on target. Kibera had taken
the early lead through Maximila Robbie.

Nekesa will finish the season with an astonishing 39 goals capped by the
championship at the end of a long season.
She teed up
Midewa restore parity after Robbie had struck first and it was all Madira from
that point on as Nekesa herself go on the scoresheet to ensure her side led 2-1
at half time.
The form two
student continued to cause trouble with her brilliance again crucial in
unlocking the Kibera backline.
She left Pauline
Ochieng for dead with a skillful dribble and put Atieno through to score the
third in the 70th minute.
Atieno
returned the favour in the 82nd minute after combining well with Nekesa to set
the lethal attacker for her second of the day and her team’s fourth.
Madira were
already promoted in the Kenya Women's Premier League after 23-0 demolition of
Kimathi Lionesses to pip Bungoma Queens and earn a direct ticket to the top
tier.
Earlier on
Bungoma Queens edged out Uweza women 7-6 on post-match penalties after a 1-1
draw to book their slot to the premier league.
Soccer
Assassins will be looking to complete a season treble at the National School Games
that begin on August 8 in Kakamega County.
