Madaga rallies Mombasa Stars after crucial derby win as relegation battle heats up

In an interview with our sports desk, Madaga expressed his satisfaction with his team’s composure and maturity during the derby, which secured three vital points. He remains optimistic about their prospects in the remaining fixtures.
“After this win, I’m confident we can achieve better results in our upcoming matches,” Madaga said. “The players showed real growth and resilience on the pitch, which gives us hope moving forward.
“This victory marks a new chapter for us, but we must approach every match like a final if we want to stay safe,” he added.
Meanwhile, Mombasa United coach Hamadi Said voiced his frustration over the match, raising concerns about the development of football in Mombasa.
Said criticized the match’s management, suggesting that improvements are necessary for the sport’s growth in the region.
“We need to do more to develop football in Mombasa. The way this match was handled shows we still have a long way to go,” he remarked.
Mombasa Stars currently sit in 17th place with 21 points, while Mombasa United are just ahead in 16th with 26 points. The battle to avoid relegation is intensifying as both teams push to improve their standings in the final stretch of the season.
