Mackenzie FC win Makena Memorial Cup

Mackenzie FC have lifted the annual Makena Memorial Cup for a third consecutive year after thrashing Shakahola FC 3-1 in the final held at Katine Technical Training Institute in Tala location, Matungulu subcounty, Machakos County on Sunday.

Ian Nduguti the captain of Mackenzie FC said that the game was good though tough from group stage and have managed to win.He encouraged the other teams to pull up and work hard through training.

Brian Mweu said that finishing runner up was not a mean achievement and promised that come next time they will work hard for a win.

Daniel Makena the organiser said that the tournament was started in honour of his late Dad who passed on in 2017 and the essence is to bring the youths together whose slogan is uniting the community through football and fight drugs from the youths and the entire community.

Makena said that the tournament attracted 27 teams from the entire Matungulu constituency. He added that some scouts from the Kenya Premier League were around and have called several players for trials.

The winner took home a trophy ,full uniform and Kshs 25,000,whereas number two were awarded Kshs 12,500 and uniform and number three got Kshs 2500.

Teams that participated are Mackenzie, Shakahola, Young Stars, Wolves fc,Katwanyaa lions,Katine United,Matungulu youth,Green Belt fc,Ngweti fc,Kimanza fc,Brighton fc,Ndulya fc,Club Brugge fc,Kikuyuni fc,Matuu rangers fc,Hotspurs fc,Kituluni fc,Kyulu fc,Donyo United fc,Jericho fc,Kalandini fc,Kinyui fc,Sharks fc,C.Dortmund fc,Miseleni fc,Celtic fc and Tala All Stars.

The final were held at Katine Technical training Institute in Tala location, Matungulu subcounty, Machakos County.
