Speaking at the launch, Machakos Governor Wavinya Ndeti expressed pride in hosting the event, emphasizing that it represents more than just a sporting competition.

"We are gathered here not merely as spectators but as a community that cherishes unity, competition, and growth," she said.

Governor Ndeti highlighted the honour of hosting teams and fans from across Kenya and around the world, noting Machakos' famed hospitality and unique attractions.

"This is an opportunity for us to showcase our county’s warmth, culture, and stunning landscapes," she continued.

The governor added that the tournament will promote sports tourism while providing a platform for community engagement and local talent development.

She also acknowledged the event’s role in the success of Kenyan teams such as Shujaa, Morans, Lionesses, and Cubs, who have used Safari 7s as a training ground for international achievements.

Governor Ndeti thanked the Kenya Rugby Union and event sponsors for their unwavering support, emphasizing that the partnership would help build a legacy of rugby, community, and tourism in the region.

She urged the participating teams to give their best and encouraged fans to bring energy and passion to the event.

Kenya Rugby Union Vice Chairman Moses Ndale echoed Governor Ndeti’s sentiments, noting that Safari 7s is one of the biggest events on the union's calendar. He explained that the decision to bring the tournament to Machakos was part of an effort to grow the sport at the grassroots level.

Ndale added that teams from countries such as the UK, France, Uganda, and Zimbabwe would participate, further enhancing the tournament’s international appeal.
