FKF Women Premier League club Bungoma Queens head coach
Godfrey Mabonga has hailed his players for a commanding 3-0 win against Trinity
Starlets in Bungoma at the weekend.
The tactician was also impressed by the team's ability to
keep a clean sheet in a league fixture before the home supporters. Speaking to Citizen Digital after the match, Mabonga
said the victory came courtesy of the players correcting mistakes in both the
attacking and defensive areas.
"We managed to correct mistakes in both the attacking
and defensive departments. These errors have been costing us since the start of
the season. That's why we were able to score and also avoided conceding,"
Mabonga explained.
Victory over Trinity Starlets boosted Bungoma Queen's hopes
of finishing in a better position on the log. With just one fixture remaining —
a clash against Bunyore Starlets — Mabonga is optimistic his side can wrap up
their campaign on a high note.
“Our focus now is on ending the season with another victory.
The girls are motivated, and I believe they can deliver,” said Mabonga.
Beyond the team’s collective success, Mabonga has also
thrown his weight behind striker Catherine Khaemba, who is in the race for the
league’s golden boot. The tactician pledged to support Khaemba in her quest to
finish as the top scorer.
“We want Catherine to end the season on top. She has worked
hard, and as a team, we will rally behind her in our last game,” he affirmed.
Bungoma Queens will now turn their attention to the decisive
encounter against Bunyore Starlets, aiming to cap their campaign with another
statement performance.
