Luanda Villa drop 13 players ahead of NSL new season
In a bid to achieve this, Selebwa has dropped 13 players but he is confident that the new signings he has made will adapt quickly to his playing style.
Postponement of the NSL league kick-off is a blessing in disguise to Selebwa who is using the opportunity to tie some of the loose ends in the community sponsored team.
“The pursuit of the premier league slot for Luanda Villa began last season. It will be unreasonable to imagine that Luanda Villa would have made it to the premier league at its first attempt competing against teams that had participated in NSL for several seasons would go straight to the premier league,” Selebwa said during a training session at Mumboha Sports ground on Wednesday.
“It is a small process full of obstacles yet minimizing on the obstacles would help Luanda Villa to beat all odds to secure the premier League slot,” he added.
Selebwa however warned that this season will be tougher than the previous campaign.
“Look at relegated Nzoia Sugar FC they are coming in the NSL determined to return to the premier league. Notwithstanding, Naivas FC almost qualified to join the top tier league. MOFA whom I believe have a better infrastructural development being under the patronage of Harambee Stars skipper Michael Olunga and Dimba Patriots are some of the teams that will give us a run for our money in the National Super League,” Selebwa opined.
He however maintained that he is doing everything in his ability to ensure Luanda Villa competes favorably amidst the upcoming scramble for the premier league slot in the National Super League.
The second-tier league's new season kick off date was delayed by three weeks from September 7 and will now begin on September 21.
Champions Mara Sugar and second-placed Mathare United secured automatic promotion to the top tier while Naivas FC, who finished third, lost to Sofapaka FC in the promotion/relegation playoff.
