Luanda Villa coach Selebwa predicts tough NSL season
Luanda Villa coach Gilbert Selebwa feels the
National Super League (NSL) title this season is open to any team that will
remain consistent, injure free and a properly motivated squad.
Selebwa has backed his side to perform well this
campaign but is cautions that the contest is tough as the points gap between the
teams is too small.
Four teams 3K, Dimba Patriots, Nairobi United and
Assad jointly lead the log on ten points after five rounds.
“The league is open to any team that will remain
consistent, be lucky enough to avoid injuries to key players while ensuring the
players are motivated. From number one to number twelve on the league you can
see the point gap is below three points making this season to be the most
competitive one.”
They returned to the winning ways last weekend with
a 4-2 rout against Darajani Gogo.
Villa face Vihiga United in an ‘Ingo derby’ at
Mumias Sports Complex, the match Selebwa says will be tough and fascinating one
to the fan base.
The Luanda Villa tactician has hailed his charges
for their quick progress in adapting his playing style maintaining that it has
been a difficult task to jell the team which had eighteen new players into this
season.
“We began the season well. We have been able to
progress from the 3KFC 3-0 loss to two draws against Migori Youth FC and Kisumu
Allstars before registering a historic 4-2 win at Mumboha last weekend against
Darajani Gogo FC,” Selebwa stated.
“The two goal
difference is putting us apart but we tie on eight points with our next
opponents Vihiga United who have also had a good start this season in position
seven and eight respectively hence the weekend match away will be tough.”
In other round six matches, league leaders 3K will
be out to continue with their fine start when they play Naivas at Moi Stadium
Kisumu on Sunday.
