Luanda Villa barred from training at Mumboha Grounds
Luanda Villa FC are currently not able to train at the Mumboha Grounds, after the Mumboha Secondary School management complained of the facility raised questions over security during matches.
The school has particularly complained that school property has been vandalised during National Super League (NSL) matches.
According to Luanda Villa chairman Moses Abwenje, the team has begun conducting training sessions at the Maseno School's sports grounds, but dismissed claims that the club had also shifted home matches to fields in the neighbouring counties.
"When candidates are preparing for their K.C.S.E, we usually shift our training sessions to Maseno. During weekends we will host our matches at Mumboha although the management has been blaming us whenever the fence is vandalised," Abwenje said.
"It is the County Government that demolished the concrete wall for the school promising to reconstruct it after completion of a feeder road it was opening. We have been using iron sheets as makeshift fences which are usually destroyed by those who force their way through the fence instead of following the official gate," Abwenje lamented.
"There are some fans who were targeting the iron sheets with the intention to sell to scrap metal dealers making the Mumboha Secondary School management uncomfortable with teams that use the field," he elaborated.
Alternatively Luanda Villa may be forced to follow Vihiga United and Vihiga Queens' steps to source for an alternative playing ground that can host NSL matches outside Vihiga. Apart from Mumboha that can host NSL games, Vihiga does not have any other field that can host such high profile matches.
"I can confirm that our alternative home ground is Moi Stadium Kisumu, or Mumias Sports Complex - just in case Mumboha ground is unavailable. I would like our member of parliament Dick Muangu and Senator Godfrey Osotsi to approach Mumboha Secondary School management so that we can agree how we will be using the ground without inconveniences," he stated.
Meanwhile, Abwenje has urged Luanda Villa fans to desist from accessing the stadium through the fence, saying it is spoiling their relations with the school.
