Likoni TVC raring to go ahead of KATTI national games
The
Likoni Technical and Vocational College (TVC) rugby team has arrived safe and
sound at the Siaya Institute of Technology, ready to compete in the KATTI
Nationals Ball Games.
The
team enters the tournament as the reigning Coast Region Champions, having
claimed an impressive victory over rivals Kenya Coast National Polytechnic with
a score of 17-0 and Taita Taveta National Polytechnic with a decisive 59-0
score, respectively.
These
victories secured their place at the nationals, and their formidable
performance makes them a team to watch.
This
year, the Likoni TVC rugby team is placed in Pool A, where they will compete
against tough opponents including Kabete National Polytechnic, Nyeri National
Polytechnic, Kisii National Polytechnic, and Kitale National Polytechnic.
Coach
and Trainer Mtawa Titus Ceaser expressed his optimism about the team’s journey:
"We
have come here to compete and win games.
“This
is our second time reaching the nationals, and our target is to reach the
finals. The boys are up and ready for the challenge, and we believe we will
achieve this with practice and prayers from Likoni."
Coach
Mtawa says that the team’s dedication and preparation reflect the resilience
and fighting spirit of Likoni TVC, and they are set to make the region proud
and demonstrate their skills on the national stage.
"We
participated in the first edition two years ago, whereby Eldoret National
Polytechnic eliminated us in a pulsating semi-final.
“But
this time round, we are back after learning our lessons, and we carry the pride
of our region."
