Strathmore Leos sevens side defended their Embu 7s title over the weekend after defeating Catholic Monks 19-5 in the final.

The win saw Leos bag their third consecutive title since 2023.

Collins Maina was in red-hot form as he touched down twice for the Leos, with Stanislaus Shikoli scoring the other try to help Strathmore to their third consecutive Embu 7s title.

Arnold Muita converted two of the three tries to end the match 19-5 in favor of Leos.

Monk’s sole unconverted try was scored by Felix Okumu.

Strathmore Leos reached in the final after a hard-fought 5-0 win against Rugby on the Road, with Catholic Monks defeating Kabete Stallions 14-0 in the other semi-final.

Leos once again put on a spotless performance in the Embu 7s completing the tournament unbeaten for the second year in a row.

They had earlier thrashed Administration Police 36-0 in the quarter-final while Monks beat hosts Embu Dragons 26-12 in the other quarter-final match.

Embu 7s is one of the most common local sevens series that teams use to prepare for the National Sevens Circuit set for the end of July.

The circuit kicks off on the last weekend of July with the opening Christie 7s leg, followed by Kakamega 7s slated for August 3 and 4, 2024.
