Vihiga Queens tactician Boniface Nyamuhnyamuh believes the international break will help her side prepare well for their next Kenyan Women Premier League fixture against Bunyore Starlets.

The four times champions are currently placed third on the log with 30 points, three behind leaders Kenya Police Bullets as Kibera Soccer Ladies occupy second position with 31 points.

Both teams; Vihiga and Bunyore are scheduled to lock horns on Saturday at Mumboha Stadium and a win for Vihiga will elevate them to position two.

Speaking to Citizen Digital, Nyamunyamuh said he is working on the striking department which has appeared to be shaky in the previous matches.

“We have had a good rest in this international break and as a coach I have used the chance to rectify striking department mistakes. I have noted the decrease in the number of goals we score nowadays and it is disturbing me. So far I’m happy that my strikers are responding well and I hope they will improve in the next fixture.”

The coach however has noted the struggles in the goalkeeping department since their first choice keeper Ruth Aturo joined Tanzanian side Tausi Women FC in early February.

“Since our keeper left, things haven’t been the same [between the posts] but I hope the newly signed keepers will catch up soon. To fill the void we signed Sally Kavingwa (Butere Girls) and Mercy Akoth (Nyakach Girls) and they are responding well so far,” he concluded.

As the FKF Cup is fast approaching, Nyamunyamuh is confident that the preparations they have had will place them better ahead.

The Football Kenya Federation (FKF) is expected to conduct the FKF CUP draw midweek and also release the fixtures.
