Kwale Starlets FC forward Katungwa in Sweden to seal Dalhem deal
Kwale Starlets FC attacking midfielder Elizabeth Katungwa is in Sweden to seal a deal with Dalhem IF.
According to her Kwale Starlets coach Mukasa Amboko, the Swedish club had been monitoring the forward for some time and are impressed with her, handing her an opportunity to join them early this year only for the plans to be ruined by the Covid-19 pandemic hence postponing her travel date.
Katungwa, a Harambee Starlets trialist turned out for Kwale Girls during her high school days and was an important cog in the squad, catching the eye of scouts before electing to join local club, Kwale Starlets.
“We did not notice any one scouting her but she’s proved her worth, they’ve come out for her and she is leaving,” explained Amboko.
Katungwa left the country Monday together with former Harambee Starlets skipper Mary Kinuthia who also plies her trade with the the Stockholm based club since 2017.
Kinuthia has been in the country during the Covid-19 period. Another Kenyan playing for the club is Christine Nafula.
Katungwa joined Kwale Girls after starting off her career with St.Johns Kaloleni School where she also shone in the National school Games held in Kisumu, scoring in the final to hand Kaloleni their first national title.
She played alongside Mwanahalima Dogo Adam who is also said to be heading to Sweden to join with Djurgaden IF.
