Kwale FC crowned Cheza Dimba national champions

Coast-based side, Kwale FC, are the national champions
of the inaugural Tujiamini Cheza Dimba National Championship.
The team displayed
outstanding determination and skill, traveling all the way from Kwale to the capital city, Nairobi, and clinching the title in a hard-fought 1-0 win over
Eldoret FC in match played on Sunday at Dandora
Stadium, Nairobi.
Austin Sangwa scored the
winning goal for Kwale FC to emerge the man-of-the-match.
Tujiamini Cheza Dimba
tournament brought together the winning teams
from all the regions to contest for the ultimate national crown.
“I am so much happy for this win
despite the many challenges we had traveling all the way from Coast to Nairobi, and managing the win. The weather was also
challenging but that did not deter us from
snatching the crucial win,” said Sangwa.
His sentiments were echoed by
his coach, Hamisi Masusa, who said the win will
motivate them ahead of the second edition of the tournament.
“The win means a lot to us
and it also indicates that Kwale County has a lot of talent. We want to thank
Kwale County for their support and we are looking forward to win the second
edition.”
Elsewhere, Uhola Queens FC from
Ugenya sub-county beat Green Blades Spass FC from Mumias to emerge the national
champions in women’s category.
The two teams played to a 1-1 draw in regular time before
Uhola Queens edged Green blades FC 3-2 on post-match penalties.
Uhola Queens currently
plays in the FKF Siaya County
women's league, while Green Blades is
based in Musanda Ward, Mumias West Sub-County and play their home matches at
Ahong'injo Primary School grounds.
The national finals marked the culmination of the first edition of the Tujiamini Cheza Dimba tournament as the second edition was officially launched.
