KVF Women’s League: Barasa out to stun KDF

Kenya Prisons head coach Josp Barasa is targeting Kenya Defence Forces' scalp when the two sides clash Thursday in the fourth leg of the Kenya Volleyball Federation women’s league at Nyayo National Stadium Gymnasium.

Barasa says their preparations have hit top gear but has warned his girls against undermining the Soldiers.

“We’ve had adequate preparations at Ulinzi Sports Complex in preparation for the match. It is going to be a difficult match but I’m confident we will win. We’re going for maximum points,” Barasa told Citizen Digital.

The 2021 league champions have had an impressive season so far despite losing one of their key attackers Meldina Sande to Rwanda’s Police Volleyball Club and have only lost a single match against Kenya Pipeline.

They’ll be looking to build on their winning momentum against the Soldiers who have won only a single match out of the four they have played.

Barasa has his eyes set on the play-offs thereafter, the goal being to reclaim their title. He’s also working on his team’s reception which has been unconvincing so far.

“We want to play well and qualify for the play-offs. After that we can start preparing for the play-offs’ finals. We finished as league’s runners up last season and I’m confident we’ll win the league this season,” noted Barasa.

The Wardresses currently sit second on the log on 15 points after six matches, a point behind leaders Kenya Pipeline.
