KUSF: Kabarak University Indoor Teams Eye National Glory

Kabarak University's indoor sports teams have set their
sights on clinching Kenya University Sports Federation (KUSF) national titles after
emerging unbeaten in the Rift regional championships held at Moi University
Main Campus in Eldoret last weekend.
The teams, comprising chess, table tennis, and karate,
emerged unblemished in the regional championships, a feat that has got
them believing they can gun for national glory in March next year’s finals that
will be held at Pwani University.
Kabarak University's karate teams showcased their prowess by
securing the top position in both the kata and kumite categories for men and
women, respectively.
The men's table tennis team emerged as the undisputed
champions, securing victory in all their games in an eight-team pool.
Skipper Meshack Simiyu has lauded his colleagues for a brilliant
show, terming it as a display of their intent to claim the national title.
"We embraced
intense training for the championship and maintained unwavering focus during
each game, treating every match as if it were our first.
"Our aspiration is to be the best in the nationals, and that's exactly what we've been training for," Simiyu affirmed.
Meanwhile, the chess women's team, defending champions both
at the Rift regional and national levels, demonstrated their dominance once
again.
Captain Cynthia Kyalo has expressed confidence, saying they
will leave nothing for chance in their preparation for the nationals.
“We usually meet daily to practice as a club, we compete
amongst ourselves where we identify our strength and weaknesses and also train
each other.
“We will intensify our strategies and give it our best,” she
reckoned
