Rift Valley Kenya Secondary Schools Sports
Association (KSSSA) football giants St. Antony Boys Kitale have set sights on
both national and East African football titles.
Speaking to Citizen
Digital, the team's head coach Peter Mayoyo confirmed that the boys are
more lethal than than last year, and are aiming to clinch national and regional
championships.
This comes after the school emerged champions
of the Kiminini Sub-County and qualified for the Trans-Nzoia County games,
which kick off on Thursday.
"In football it happens that one year you're
down and the other you're more stronger. We are prepared and our goal is not
only to win the county title but play and win at the highest level,"
Mayoyo noted.
However, the tactician also admitted that the
teams they have faced since the zonal level have improved compared to last
year, but his team was well-prepared and managed to overcome them.
"There has been a lot of improvement in many
teams that we have faced this year right from the zonal level. We encountered
real challenges along the way but we managed to sail through with 61 goals
scored in total," he added.
The secondary school games at the Trans Nzoia
County level officially begin today, with St. Antony set to launch their
campaign against Bishop Glory in the opening match, which will be played at
Miteitei Primary School.
