KRU makes changes to Rugby 15s setup
The Kenya Rugby Union has rejigged the technical bench of
the national rugby 15s team, Simbas with South African tactician Jerome Paarwater
heading the new set up.
Paarwater will head the main 15s team, and will be assisted
by KCB's Curtis Oluoch and Kabras Sugar's head coach Carlos Katywa.
Richard Ochieng will take charge of Strength and Conditioning docket with Steve
Mankone being the team's physiotherapist.
The KRU has rearranged the 15s set up to offer a clear and
elaborate path of development of talent right from the lower ranks to the
senior team.
Simon Jawichre will take over the role of head coach at the
Under 20s level with Kenny Andola as his assistant.
Former Simbas head coach Paul Odera makes a comeback in the
15s game as the head coach of the Under 18s with Derick Liyakho appointed his
assistant.
Former Kenya Sevens international Biko Adema also makes a
comeback into Kenya's rugby set up as the head coach of the Under 15s.
To further bolster the setup, Philip Wamae and Joseph Guchu,
have been handed the task of assistant team managers.
The KRU have set trials for the Under 20 side Chipus for
this weekend as the team gears towards the 2024 Barthes cup set to be held in
Harare, Zimbabwe.
An alignment camp for the Simbas is also scheduled for this
weekend.
The Union said the decision is aimed at streamlining the
management of the 15s sides to create a proper path for rugby development in
the country.
