The directive follows a mention of case SDTSC No. E013 of 2025, pitting appellant Alexander Kiplagat Mutai (KRU Chairman) against the KRU Board of Directors.
Acting Tribunal Chair, Mrs. Njeri Onyango, has appointed Senior Counsel John Ohaga to oversee the mediation, with the involved parties expected to report back on April 2, 2025.
Additionally, the Tribunal extended conservatory orders, ensuring that all current board members, including Mutai, retain their positions until a resolution is reached.
This development comes just a week after fresh leadership wrangles erupted at the union, culminating in a hastily convened board meeting last Thursday, where Chairman Mutai was purportedly "suspended."
However, in a quick rejoinder, Mutai dismissed the move, labeling it as "corruption fighting back" in an interview with Citizen Digital.
Further, the Tribunal has barred any motions seeking the removal of board members from the agenda of the upcoming KRU Annual General Meeting (AGM) scheduled for March 24, 2025.
The case will be mentioned again on April 2, 2025, for further directions.
Amid the governance turmoil, KRU Thursday announced a Ksh 2.6 million partnership deal with Crown Paints, providing a much-needed boost to the sport.
However, the ongoing dispute threatens to overshadow such developments, with stakeholders keenly watching how the mediation process unfolds.
