KRU boss Mutai confident Shujaa will star at Perth 7s
The
national Sevens team Shujaa has safely arrived in Australia ahead of the Perth
Sevens that will be taking place this weekend.
Kenya
Rugby Union Chairman Sasha Mutai believes the team will have an impressive
outing following what he feels was a significant residential camp in Nakuru.
“It is
good news the team has arrived safely in Australia ahead of this weekend
assignment they are in high spirits and ready to deliver a great performance
which I believe they have what it takes to do,” said Mutai.
Kenya
who returned to the HSBC World Seven Series this season have been placed in
tough Pool C alongside series leaders Fiji, New Zealand and Uruguay but Mutai
believes they can cause an upset against the giants.
“It is
a very tough pool with top team which Kenya is also part that is why we are
among the 12 teams in the series they are young team full of energy team work
and focus and always ready to give their best,” added Mutai.
After
the Dubai and Cape Town season openers, Shujaa are ninth in the series'
standings with 11 points, which they will be seeking to improve on in
Australia.
“He is an experience player who will add value to the team he has signed his contract alongside Tony Omondi and I believe they will help the team achieve their target,” stated the Union chairman.
