The Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) men’s volleyball team underlined their title ambitions with a commanding 3-0 sweep over Trailblazers in the quarterfinals of the inaugural Kenya Cup at Nyayo National Stadium on Sunday.

KPA, who were finalists in the regular cup season, delivered set scores of 25-16, 25-18, and 25-20 to seal a semifinal slot in style.

Coach James Ontere lauded his charges for sticking to the game plan, particularly their excellent service game.

“We executed well, especially on our serves,” Ontere said.

“There’s still room to improve on our defense, and we’ll work on that before the semifinals,” he added.

KPA now joins the Kenya Defense Forces (KDF) and regular season champions General Service Unit (GSU) in the men’s semifinals scheduled for July 12 and 13.

GSU booked their spot after overcoming a resilient KAPU side 3-1 (28-26, 26-28, 25-15, 25-17) in a thriller that tested both resolve and tactics from both sides.

Earlier, KDF became the first team to reach the last four, rallying from a set down to defeat Administration Police 3-1 (23-25, 25-23, 25-17, and 25-20) in a high-energy clash that showcased the military side’s depth and fighting spirit.

The final men’s semifinal slot will be filled after the anticipated face-off between Kenya Prisons and Equity.

Both men’s and women’s semifinals and finals of the Kenya Cup are set for next weekend, July 12 and 13, promising a showdown of the country’s volleyball elite as they battle for national glory.
