Korir to run for NOCK first vice president seat in April elections

Athletics Kenya
executive member Barnaba Korir has officially declared his candidacy for the
First Vice President position in the upcoming National Olympic Committee of
Kenya (NOCK) elections set for April 24, 2025.
Korir, who has been
endorsed by Athletics Kenya for the role, expressed his enthusiasm about
joining the race, emphasizing the importance of engaging with delegates who
will determine the outcome.
"I'm excited
to plunge into the elections. It's an exciting journey — and of course,
elections can go any direction — but it's all about talking to the delegates
who will vote for us," Korir stated.
He believes
securing the position will benefit Athletics Kenya, a federation that
consistently delivers medals for the country at the Olympics.
"If you’re
there, you represent the interests of your federation. There are key areas to
address, like coaching programs, scholarships for coaches, technical officials,
technical officials, support personnel and competitions that take place and are
represented by the NOCK," he added.
This will be
Korir’s second attempt at a NOCK leadership position after serving as an
executive member for the past four years.
The elections will
involve 29 delegates from various federations, who will vote to elect new
office bearers for the next four-year term.
