KSSSA: Koderobara defeat Matutu to emerge Nyanza Region football champions
Koderobara Secondary School are
the new 2024 Nyanza Region Secondary School football boys’ champions.
Koderobara,
representing Migori County, emerged victorious after dismissing Matutu PAG from
Nyamira 2-1, in a finals match played at the Moi Stadium in Kisumu today.
The match was postponed
from Saturday last week after the crowd caused chaos during a semi-final match
between Agoro Sare and Matutu at Cardinal Otunga, Mosocho, which was later
abandoned as the latter led 2-0.
Koderobara had the say from
the beginning of the match, with Gerald Samson scoring a brace in the first
half, before Matutu captain Tony Oloo scored a consolation goal from a penalty
kick.
The Migori County champions
will now represent Nyanza Region in the finals set to start on the 29th
of this month.
Speaking after the match,
Koderobara coach Moses Otieno sounded a warning to their opponents at the national
games.
“We are going to prepare
adequately, and we want to send a message to our opponents that they should
come prepared for us. We are going to do what it takes so that we make a mark
at the national level,” warned Otieno.
Koderobara will now represent
Nyanza Region in the finals set to begin on July 29, 2024, in a venue yet to be
decided.
This as the case lodged by
Agoro Sare on their botched semi-final match against Matutu is still pending.
Agoro accused Matutu of
fielding ineligible players, with the outcome still pending at the office of
the Nyanza Regional Director of Education.
The match was abandoned in the 75th
minute as Matutu were leading 2-0, due to trouble by fans.
