The students defeated Africa Nazarene University (ANU Wolfpacks) 56-50 in the Kenya National Men’s Basketball Premier League.
The Blades will be playing fellow varsity side USIU Tigers and UON Terror to complete the first leg.
“The toughest matches, I need the boys to step up, we need to work well as a team, and we need to help each other in terms of rotation, covering the space and also work well on execution which was a very big factor during our game against ANU.”
We need to have a target of at least 15 or 20 points per quarter but I’m optimistic since we have a two week break that will help me to work on our weaknesses.
Despite winning last weekend's match, Ochieng was not convinced on how his boys played.
“It was a very scrappy win; we didn’t play well although we won. Our shooting percentage was very low, we managed to make two three points only in that game which is a very big concern.
“We need to play every game as if it is a final, we were over confident which is not good” Ochieng said.
Strathmore have so far played nine games, winning four and losing five with 13 points so far.
