Equity Dumas head coach Zadock Adika is over the moon after his side claimed the 'bragging rights' in the bankers’ derby, against National Bank of Kenya Phoenix at the weekend.
The Dumas were in sound form, beating National Bank of Kenya
72-59 in the men’s premier league match staged at the Nyayo Gymnasium.
“It was a very tough
one, the game was tight especially in the first half and we had to talk to
players during the break to relax as they were not executing well.
In the last quarter we managed to control the game and it
was our best performing quarter and we were able to change depending on the dynamics
of the game,” Adika said.
At the same time, the soft-spoken tactician is proud of
their performance promising 'more to come from the team'.
“I am proud of my
boys that we managed to get victory and we were able to stand the changes in
the game, including tempo, style… I am happy that my team remained composed and
we were able to execute well,” Adika added.
In the weekend match
they lost narrowly in the first quarter as they went down 17-18 before winning
narrowly 11-10 in the second quarter as the game went to half time break with
both teams having scored 28 points each.
After the break, the bankers came back stronger and more
organized winning 20-15 in the third quarter before claiming another a 24-16 in
the last quarter as the game ended 72-59 in favour of Equity.
