Kisumu Starlets head coach, Juma Said, has attributed his team’s underwhelming performance in the first leg of the FKF Women’s Premier League season to "minor mistakes."

Currently placed 8th on the table with 11 points from 10 matches, the team has faced a challenging campaign, conceding crucial goals that have cost them valuable points.

Speaking to Citizen Digital, Said noted that most of the goals conceded stemmed from free kicks, which he believes could have been avoided with better defensive organization and goalkeeping.

“Most of the goals we let in were from free kicks, which I’ve worked on with my goalkeeper to address. These are minor mistakes that can easily be rectified,” he stated.

Despite the setbacks, the tactician remains optimistic, highlighting the competitive nature of the league and emphasizing that every team still has a chance to challenge for the title.

Said plans to make strategic additions to the squad in the upcoming transfer window to bolster his team’s performance in the second leg,

“We’ll look to bring in new players next year to strengthen the team and address areas where we’re struggling,” he said.

Kisumu Starlets conclude their first-leg campaign with one game remaining, hoping to end on a high note.

Meanwhile, Said and his team are keen to use the lessons learned from the first half of the season to build momentum and push for a stronger showing in the league’s second leg.
