Kisumu Day promise secret weapon to take down Agoro Sare
The tough talking Kisumu Day coach Booker Odhiambo has pledged to
unleash a ‘secret weapon’ to revive their hopes of playing in the National
Secondary Schools Term Two Games.
Kisumu Day were beaten 6-7 on penalties by Agoro Sare in the
Nyanza Region boys’ football final before lodging a protest against the
winners.
The complaint targeted the legibility of Godfrey Omondi, a
former student at Buruburu High School who featured for Agoro Sare during their
triumphant campaign.
But the Nyanza Region Secondary School Sports Association dismissed
that appeal over lack of evidence, allowing Agoro Sare to go on and represent
the region in what will be their football team’s first ever appearance at a national
championship.
"They successfully countered my plan A but I want to
assure them of a plan B and C which are now my secret weapons and yet to be
unveiled.
“My next move will come as a shocker. Do not be surprised to
see Kisumu Day play at the oncoming National Games,” Odhiambo said.
The Nyanza Regional Director of Education, Nelson Sifuna,
defended the decision of the commissars saying they only deliberated on the
specifics of the appeal that was before them.
"Unless Kisumu Day reappeals, the Victory of Agoro Sare
is upheld because the commissars dealt with the matter that was before them
during the hearing of the appeal," he asserted.
The National Games will be held in Kakamega County from August
6-12.
