Kisumu All-Starlets brace for showdown with league leaders Kibera Soccer Women
Kisumu All Starlets of the Football Kenya Federation Women's Premier League face a tough test this weekend as they prepare to host league leaders Kibera Soccer Women.
The match, set for 2:00 p.m. on Sunday at Moi Stadium in Kisumu, promises an exciting showdown as the All-Starlets aim for a third consecutive victory.
Speaking to Citizen Digital, head coach Juma Said was optimistic, noting the challenge ahead.
“We know it won’t be an easy match. Kibera Soccer Women are leading the league for a reason, but we’re working hard to make our fans proud,” he said.
Despite their recent winning streak, the All-Starlets face significant obstacles, with injuries affecting key players, particularly in their attacking lineup.
Star striker Monicah Etot and other forwards are sidelined, leaving the team’s offence under pressure. Coach Said acknowledged the impact of these setbacks but remains determined.
“We’ve had some setbacks with injuries, but I have confidence in our players. We’ll do our best to put on a strong performance,” he added.
Currently, in 7th place with 7 points, Kisumu All-Starlets have shown impressive resilience this season.
Sunday’s game presents a prime opportunity for them to test their abilities against the league’s top team.
