Kisped
Queens will be targeting maximum points when they take on Bungoma Queens in a
crucial Women’s Premier League fixture this weekend.
The side
is looking to build on the momentum from their first win of the season—a hard-fought
2–1 victory over Kisumu All Starlets—which ended a difficult run and injected
fresh belief into the squad.
Speaking
to Citizen Digital ahead of the
Bungoma clash, head coach Daniel Minjis described the win as a major morale
booster, saying it has inspired his players to raise their commitment and
intensity in training as they prepare for upcoming matches.
“Kisumu
All Starlets were confident of beating us because both teams were yet to
register a win in the league. We had to go for the points to improve our
position on the standings,” said Minjis.
Minjis
believes another victory against Bungoma Queens would significantly improve
Kisped Queens’ league position and help steer them away from the relegation
zone. He also urged supporters to continue backing the team, stressing the
importance of fan support during this challenging phase of the season.
“We have
a strategy. We need wins against Bungoma Queens and Kibera to reach 10 points,
which will take us above the relegation zone. To the fans, the earlier results
were our fault, but the girls are now up to the task, and we urge them to keep
pushing us,” he added.
Despite
picking up all three points in their last outing, Kisped Queens remain second
from bottom on the league table with four points from eight matches. They are
three points above Kisumu All Starlets, who are rooted at the foot of the
standings.
As the
season progresses, the encounter against Bungoma Queens presents a timely
opportunity for Kisped Queens to climb out of the danger zone.
