Football Kenya Federation Women's Premier League side Kisped Queens are fired up for their clash against Vihiga Queens on Saturday, at the Moi Stadium in Kisumu – Head Coach Daniel Minjis has said.

Minjis said for Kisped, the match is not only an opportunity to improve their position in the league table but also to extend a positive record against Vihiga Queens.

This is after eliminating the fancied four-time KWPL champions from the FKF Cup last season, in their last meeting.

The achievement remains something to boast about according to the coach, adding it gives his squad belief heading into this weekend’s game.

"It will not be a walk in the park for us because Vihiga Queens are an experienced club in this league. We however draw our confidence in our last meeting’s result, where we bundled them out of the FKF Cup last season.

“We are working hard in readiness for the fixture, and of course we want to show that that win when we met last time was not by fluke," Minjis said.

This being their last match of the league’s first half, Minjis wants a positive result, acknowledging that the second stanza of the campaign will be a gruelling one.

However, he remains optimistic about his team's ability to fight and secure their place in the league.

“I expect the second leg to be more challenging, but our focus is on staying in the league. We know what we’re up against, but we have the determination and the spirit to succeed,” Minjis said.

Kisped are currently placed 8th in the standings with 10 points, while Vihiga sit in 5th place having garnered 17.
