Kibwage finally ends frustrating stay with Sofapaka
Defender Mike Kibwage is now a free agent after his two-year
contract with Sofapaka FC expired this week.
Kibwage’s stay at the club has by and large been frustrating
after his previous attempt to terminate his contract over pay led to an ugly
falling out.
After going five months without a salary, Kibwage wrote to
the club seeking to have his contract terminated but that request was rejected
and the player was frozen out of the first team.
"It is true I am a free agent now, I have been out since
June last year after the Club refused to let me go but I am glad my two year
contract has run down, I went for five-and-a-half months without pay and had to
call it quits.
"Right now I am not in talks with any team since the
transfer window closed, but once I do definitely you will know about it,” Kibwage
told Citizen Digital.
Indeed, the 25-year-old has not featured in competitive
football for Sofapaka since June last year. He summarized his sixteen months at
Sofapaka as an unpleasant experience and said he was keen to make an informed
decision in his next move.
“I have learnt my lessons the hard way and going forward I
will thoroughly scrutinize any contact before putting pen to paper, this has
not been easy for me.”
