Kibera Soccer Women tactician George Bob Okallo believes they have the tools to propel the Nairobi-based team to Kenyan Women's Premier League glory this season if they maintain their hard work and winning streak.
The side collected maximum points following a 1-0 victory over Gideon Starlets at the Gems Cambridge stadium in Karen on Wednesday, a victory that saw them leapfrog Zetech Sparks into fifth place on goal difference.
Both teams now sit on 28 points, but Kibera still have a game in hand.
Gideon Starlets remain 10th on 17 points, three points from safety, while Soccer Assassins are ninth on 20 points, although they too have a game in hand.
“It was a nice match which we would have won with more than three goals was it not for my strikers to fail to do that. Our aim remains the same to win the league and I believe we can if we maintain the focus and keep fighting and winning the remaining matches.”
In his part Gideon Starlets coach Silas Wesechere said they are aiming to overcome the relegation threat.
“We came with a target to win this match because we are in the red zone and our main aim is to get out of that relegation zone, but because this one has now passed, we are preparing for the next match so that we have the three points to make sure we are safe"
Only teams with matches in hand are playing as others wait till 8th April 2026 for the second physical meeting with Football Kenya Federation to iron out matters which lead to their round 18 forfeiture a fortnight ago.
