Kibera Soccer Ladies coach David Vijago aims to bolster his squad ahead of the Kenya Women Premier League (KWPL) new season.

The Kibera-based side finished the last season in fourth position with 32 points, 17 behind champions Kenya Police Bullets, and then went on to finish the FKF Women’s Cup in second place following their 2-1 loss against Ulinzi Starlets in the final played on July 10, 2024, at the Police Sacco Stadium, Nairobi.

In an interview with Citizen Digital, Vijago said they have already identified the players the need and they will reveal them once the deals are completed.

According to Vijago, his entire squad is new after the acquisition of his experienced players at the beginning of last season, and therefore there is need to sign at least 10 new players to bolster the squad.

What we are lacking in our squad is depth, something we are fighting for. In the last season we lost almost half of the squad to our competitors and we had no option but to sign new players with less experience. I want to thank them because they really fought hard and managed fourth position last season as well as finishing as first runners-up in the FKF Women Cup,” said Vijago.

He added, “Next season we will aim to win the league and the cup and we have already started looking for 10 new players to sign. The process is going on well and very soon we shall announce their names for people to know.

The tactician said they have managed to secure sponsorship for next season, which he said will alleviate their financial struggles and help them sign the new players, alongside being to able to comfortably meet their running expenses.
