Kiambu Aquatics Hosts Successful Two-Day Invitational Gala

Kiambu Aquatics held their two-day invitational gala at Regis School Runda in Kiambu County, attracting over 200 swimmers who participated in more than 1,200 event entries.

 

More than 18 teams from various counties took part in the event, showcasing a growing interest in competitive swimming across the region.

 

Stephanie Wambui, 13, from Orca Club, won a gold medal in the 100-meter freestyle with a time of 1:17.45.


She credited her coach for the support and guidance in her training, noting that such galas help her improve her performance.

 

Maxwell Kamau, 10, from Woodcreek School, clinched victory in the 100-meter freestyle with a time of 1:43.82.


He shared that he trained hard knowing the competition would be stiff and expressed hope to achieve better times in future galas.

 

Adrian Akath, a coach from Kigwa Ridge, appreciated the warm reception, noting that this being their first gala; it was a great opportunity to put their training into practice.

 

Douglas Okatso, the Acting Secretary of Kiambu Aquatics, expressed satisfaction with the turnout, stating that counties have embraced swimming as a sport.


He also urged the Kiambu County government to support aquatics to help athletes achieve their sporting goals.

 

The next Kiambu Aquatics event, the Sprints and Relays Gala, is scheduled for May 24 and 25 at the same venue.
