Keter, Chepngeno win AK track and field meet in Nakuru

Vincent Keter and Cynthia Chepngeno were standout performers at the fourth AK Track and Field Weekend Meet at Nakuru's Africa Stadium.
Keter, the 2021 World Under-20 1500m champion, claimed victory in the men's 1500m with a time of 3:38.3, finishing ahead of World Cross Country mixed relay champion Daniel Kyumbe Munguti, who took second with 3:40.6.
Kenya Prisons’ Charles Simotwo rounded out the podium in third place with a time of 3:41.0.
Diana Chepkemoi, the World Under-20 bronze medallist, dominated the 3,000m steeplechase, clocking 9:38.0 to outsprint Celestine Biwott of KDF, who finished second in 9:39.5. Winny Chepteek from North Rift completed the podium in third place with a time of 10:16.8.
In the women’s 5,000m, Cynthia Chepngeno of KDF crossed the line first in 15:28.6, narrowly edging out Gladys Jeptepkeny of the Kenya Navy, who finished second in 15:29.6. Cynthia Chepkurui of Lemotit Camp took third, finishing just 0.03 seconds behind Jeptepkeny.
In the women’s triple jump, Faith Kipsang of the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) soared to victory with a jump of 12.55m.
