Kenya’s Susan Ejore storms into 1500m final at World Indoors

Ejore, who is based in the United States, clocked 4 minutes 12.41 seconds to secure her spot in Sunday’s final.
Ethiopia’s Gudaf Tsegay, the reigning world champion, dominated the race to win in 4:11.87, while American Sinclaire Johnson finished second.
Kenya also enjoyed success in the 800m, with three athletes progressing to the semi-finals.
Former World Indoor silver medallist Noah Kibet advanced in the men’s 800m, finishing second in Heat 4 with 1:48.31.
USA’s Josh Hoey won the heat in 1:48.14, while Italy’s Giovanni Lazzaro came third in 1:48.75.
Compatriot and reigning African champion Alex Ngeno Kipngetich also secured a semifinal spot after posting 1:48.17, finishing just behind Jakub Dudycha of the Czech Republic, who won in 1:48.04.
In the women’s 800m, African silver medallist Lilian Odira booked her place in the semifinals, clocking 2:04.46 to finish second in Heat 1.
Portugal’s Patricia Silva took first place in 2:04.44, while Ethiopia’s Habitam Alemu claimed the third qualifying spot in 2:04.48.
Not all Kenyan athletes had a smooth start to the competition as Dorcas Ewoi failed to turn up for her race, as confirmed by coach Janeth Jepkosgei.
Meanwhile, Festus Lagat finished third in his 1500m heat but did not make the cut for the final.
In the 800m, both Collins Kipruto and Vivian Chebet fell short, failing to advance past the heats.
