Enköpings SK have reached an agreement for the transfer of Kenyan midfielder Irad Mshindi to Latvian top-flight club FK Liepāja.
The teenager joins the club, coached by Andreas Alm and will compete in the UEFA Conference League qualifiers this season.
Irad joined Enköping last summer and quickly made an impact with strong performances. He now takes the next step in his career.
His journey has been remarkable. Irad was recruited from Kenyan school football where he played for Musingu Scorpions and had never featured in a professional league before joining Enköpings SK.
"It feels unreal. One year ago I was playing school football in Kenya – now I’m moving to a European top division. I’m extremely grateful to Enköping and everyone who believed in me. This means everything to me and my family," said Irad.
"Enköping changed my life. I learned what professionalism really means, both on and off the pitch. The coaches, teammates and the whole club helped me grow every day. My goal is to keep improving, contribute immediately and prove that I belong at this level," added Irad.
Sporting director Pelle Johansson has termed the arrival of Irad as exciting.
"This is obviously a very important deal for Enköpings SK. We have deliberately rejuvenated the squad while progressing in the league system.
"Having one of the youngest starting elevens in Swedish elite football and being able to sell players for significant fees proves that we are doing something right," noted Johansson.
