Kenyan goalkeeper Rufa set to join Simba Queens
Kenyan goalkeeper Carolyne Rufa is on the verge of Tanzanian giants
Simba Queens, from another Tanzanian Women Premier League side Gates Princess
A top official at Simba Queens revealed to Citizen Digital that they have reached personal terms with the player,
pending official announcement.
The official noted that Simba are strengthening their goalkeeping
department which has been shaky as they are gear up for the second edition of
the CAF Women’s Champions in Morocco.
“We have been talking to
Rufa for some time now and I can confirm that we have reached an agreement with
her. We expect to complete the deal by Wednesday. We have watched her severally
when she was playing for Gates Princess in our local league and she really
caught our attention, that’s why we started the hunt.
“I’m sure she will be a big boost for my side going to Morocco as
we are aiming to reach the at least the semifinals,” said the official.
On his part, Gate Princess Sporting Director Alex Alumirah
confirmed to have received number of offers for the Keeper including Simba and
a club in Greece.
“I can say Rufa is on her way out but I don’t know where she is
heading to. Out of many offers we have received from different teams thirsting
for her services, she was interested for Simba and a Greece club. She would have
a big chance to showcase her talent in Greece but as things are now, there is a
possibility she could end up at Simba.”
Rufa who emerged from Butere Girls in Kakamega, played for SEP
Oyugis in the Women Division One League before sealing a deal with Gate
Princess.
Fountain Gate Princess also runs a football academy which
trains young football players from the ages of 15-20, and has branches in
Dodoma, Morogoro, and Dar es Salaam.
