Kenya spank Tunisia to reach final round of 2026 WAFCON qualifiers

Harambee Starlets are through to the next round of the 2026 Women Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) qualifiers after edging out Tinisia 1-0 in a nervy encounter played at the Stade Olympique de Sousse in Tunis, Tunisia, on Wednesday.
After a dull first leg in which Starlets were held to a barren
draw in Nairobi a week ago, an outcome that saw head coach Beldine Odemba come
under fire, Kenya had to dig deep to overcome their North African opponents, who
had a home advantage to their favour.
While Terry Engesha’s strike early in the first proved the winner, it was goalkeeper Lilian Awuor’s heroics that carried Starlets over the line with two spectacular penalty saves on either side of half-time to stop the Tunisians from seizing advantage.
Kenya will now face Gambia, who overcame Niger 4-2 in the next
round of AWCON qualifiers
