Kenya Pipeline overpowers KCB in thrilling comeback victory at Kenya Cup

Coach Japheth Munala's Bankers fought hard to claim the first set 28-27 after a thrilling exchange that forced a tiebreaker. Both teams went toe-to-toe, delivering powerful plays that kept fans on edge.
However, Pipeline regrouped and stormed back in the second set with a dominant 25-17 win, exposing cracks in KCB’s attack and defense. The trend continued in the third set as Pipeline asserted its dominance with another 25-17 victory, taking a 2-1 lead into the fourth set.
Coach Geoffrey Owino’s side sealed the comeback with a hard-fought 25-22 win in the final set, maintaining their unbeaten record at 4-0 in the competition.
Despite the loss, KCB captain Edith Wisa commended her team for their resilience, especially given the absence of key senior players.
“We were shorthanded, but our juniors stepped up and fell just short of the win. We’re in a good place as we prepare for the Club Championships, and this was a valuable test,” Wisa said.
On the other hand, Owino praised his squad for bouncing back after losing the first set, expressing confidence in their ability to improve.
“We had to dig deep for this win. Losing the Club Championship a few days ago was tough, but we’re eager to go again and do better,” Owino stated.
