Kenya out to shine in Msa Zone V beach volleyball championship
Kenya beach volleyball teams have intensified training ahead of the Zone V Beach Volleyball qualifiers for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, scheduled for December 19-24 in Mombasa.
The 12-member team is led by coaches Patrick
Owino and Salome Wanjala, who are clear in mind of the tough competition ahead
- in the qualifiers.
According to Patrick Owino, their aim is qualify
for the next round of matches set for 2024.
The top three countries will qualify for the
Continental Cup, and the winner will secure a ticket to the Paris Olympics.
"We are sharpening the team and will
utilize home advantage .We must go past the Zone V Championship and qualify for
the Paris Olympics. We are really focused, and we know our capabilities but we must first show it in the Zone V competition," said Owino.
Teams from other countries are expected to
land in Mombasa on December 19, for the championship.
In the previous edition of the qualifiers held
in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, Kenya and Rwanda women's teams qualified for the
next stage, while the men suffered a shock elimination by Mozambique.
