Koyonzo High School rugby head coach Eliud Okwemba has
warned Kabras RFC not to underestimate Menengai Oilers when the two sides go
head to head in the Kenya Cup final that will be played on April 12 at the Kakamega
Showground.
Oilers beat KCB 31-08 in the semi-finals on Saturday while
Kabras prevailed over Nondiescript 45-06 in the opposite clash and Okwemba now
says the host must be wary of their opponents in the highstakes meeting.
“They are very dangerous side, they have quality players who
have been together for a long time, they understand each other, and they have a
lot of passion for the game. It is not a team to be ignored at all,” warned Okwemba.
Kabras are so far unbeaten in all competitions and Okwemba
says it’s down to their depth and quality and their gifted technical bench led
by veteran tactician Carlos Katywa.
“They are unbeaten for a reason, they have depth and quality
in every department, and they have a very good technical bench and a great back
up by their fans, that keeps them going,” added Okwemba.
Meanwhile, with the national term one school games set to
run from April 7-12 at the Shanzu Teachers College and Shimo La Tewa High
School in Mombasa County, the veteran tactician has backed western
representatives Vihiga High School to give defending champions All Saints a run
for their money.
“Vihiga have been East Africa champions before, they have a
very strong team, they are in a tough pool and if they get out of it they are
going to be a very difficult side to beat in the competition,” stated the head
coach.
