The 2024 NCBA Golf Series commenced yesterday at the NCBA Golf Series attracting 145 golfers eager to vie for victory across multiple divisions.
In Division One, where players with handicaps up to 12 compete, Kenneth Mburu emerged victorious with a score of 38 Stableford points, playing off handicap 12. Following closely behind, John Kamenyi, with a handicap of eight, secured the runner-up position with 37 points.
Moving to Division Two, which sees players with handicaps ranging from 13 to 24, Ronald Wekesa claimed the men’s category title with an impressive 43 points, playing off handicap 16. Among the ladies, Jane Ndirangu emerged victorious with 36 points, playing off handicap 22.
In Division Three, catering to players with handicaps of 25 and above, Kimaita Magiri clinched victory with 42 points, playing off a handicap of 26.
Additionally, in subsidiary categories, Saruni Meely secured the win among junior golfers with a round of 30 points, playing off handicap 25. Meanwhile, Steve Mutungi claimed the Guest winner title with 40 points, playing off handicap 26.
Among the NCBA staff, Charles “Sirkal” Omondi, NCBA Group Acting Director for Retail Banking, took the Staff winner title with 33 points, playing off handicap 21.
Speaking at the event, Charles Omondi, NCBA Group's Acting Director of Retail Banking emphasized the transformative influence of sports in uniting people, fostering greatness, and nurturing enduring bonds. Reflecting on the day's proceedings, he expressed optimism and excitement for the journey ahead.
Omondi highlighted the NCBA Golf Series as marking the beginning of an exhilarating golfing odyssey across East Africa and reaffirming NCBA Group's steadfast dedication to nurturing the growth and development of golf in the region.

The 2024 NCBA Golf Series encompasses 23 qualifying events spread across East Africa, with 14 held in Kenya, three in Uganda, three in Rwanda, two in Tanzania, and one in Zanzibar. These events will culminate in a grand finale on November 29th at the Muthaiga Golf Club.
Six players, including winners from various divisions such as Division One Male and Female, Division Two Male and Female, Division Three Overall, and the overall Junior category, will earn qualification to compete in the prestigious grand finale.
The next stop for the series is the Nakuru Golf Club on March 24, 2024, for the second leg of this thrilling golfing journey.
