Ken Odhiambo unveiled as Bandari FC coach
Harambee Stars assistant coach Ken Odhiambo was Thursday unveiled as the new Bandari FC head coach ahead of the new season that kicks off on August 24.
Odhiambo, who is returning for a third spell with the Dockers, will be deputised by John Baraza, who has
been at the helm of the team since Twahir Muhiddin was sacked last season.
Jeremy Onyango, who has been doubling up as the
goalkeeper trainer and Baraza assistant, will revert to his normal duties as
the head coach in goalkeeping.
Speaking at the team headquarters in Mombasa, the
club’s Chief Executive Officer Tony Kibwana said the changes were crucial in
their bid to have better tidings next season.
“We will put structures to make sure our fans are
happy and our sponsor KPA by winning major trophies in Kenya and competing in
continental level.”
On his part, Odhiambo said that he was confident
with the current Bandari FC playing unit adding that they can lift their first
ever league title next season.
“Have been watching Bandari FC games, am impressed
by the young lads and am sure if we work together as a team we will win major
in Kenya and probably be among the best in Africa.”
“My first job is to make our players better and also
change our way of play in regards of attaining our target”, Ken added.
Bandari FC has also confirmed departure of James Kinyanjui and Abdallah Hassan who were out of contract with striker Francis Kahiro mutually
terminating his contract with the Dockers and is reported to be heading back to
KCB.
Kibwana failed to confirm departure of left back
defender Siraj Mohammed, who was unveiled as Coastal Union player, saying the
team is in talks with main players to build a strong side.
"As you know Bandari fc we always go for the
best from outside Kenya and from within mostly in our academy and we promise
coach Ken the best players to suit our plan".
